Comparative Study of Cloud Platforms
Today, all major companies are trying to move to cloud. It may be adopting a IaaS or PaaS Strategy for the success of the organization.
Companies are thinking of moving their Big Data and Machine Learning Platforms over to Cloud. But they need to first review and inspect the need for doing the same and also their readiness. Otherwise it may lead to a critical crunch situation.
First important step towards a successful cloud migration will be to select a Private, Hybrid or Public Cloud approach. Companies fear of Public cloud security still going ahead and investing in the Private cloud. However, Public cloud computing companies investing heavily on the Network and User Level Security among others to avoid any data breaches.
If an Enterprise selects to proceed with Public Cloud, then the bigger challenge is to select the right Cloud Partner, and the first option that comes to mind is either Amazon, Microsoft or Google.
Amazon AWS is amazing in the thought process and on being ahead the competition. It provides a range of Big Data Storage solutions along with ML tools. However Microsoft Azure is not far behind. With Azure Data Lake and Data Factory, Microsoft is winning lot of clients including the federal ones.
But wait, have you heard of GCP ? Yes, you are right! its Google Cloud Platform. The Disruptor or the Influencer, whatever it may be; but with GCP, Google is coming strong in the cloud competition. Google Storage, Big Data and Machine Learning capabilities over cloud are very strong and well proven. With full Managed Services approach they have taken away the major Infrastructure and security responsibilities to them and freed the Developers to focus on coding and quick deployment.
There are some other cloud vendors trying to make it to top of the Cloud Provider’s chart, e.g. Oracle/OCI, IBM/Bluemix and Alibaba/Aliyun. But they need to cover a long path compared to 3 Cloud Market Leaders, i.e. AWS, Azure and GCP.
